Last Hurrah

My body is currently moving at the pace of an arthritic sloth, and with about the same grace as said creature. Having run through the trail I am setting for the next Hash House Harrierettes event twice, both times while getting nicely drenched by chilly rain, I can only be grateful that everyone else will be running the course instead!

There is a sense of anticipation and excitment in the air, especially on the trains. Everyone is counting down the hours until Golden Week, when they will either escape to more exotic locales, sleep until noon, or lounge under trees (perhaps even the odd 'pom pom' sakura which have appeared) enjoying the warm breezes that are starting to wander through the Tokyo streets. I throughly look forward to doing all three!
With regards to the warming temperatures, a recent, important find was the H&M in Ginza. They stock some really rather fashion-forward items, and good summer basics up to size US 8/10 (UK 12, EU 42). I actually just went there with the intention of geting the awesome sandals (which they have up to US/UK 9, EU 40), which are gloriously blingy and gold... and somehow the rest also showed up in my shopping basket. The kitschy socks are from the 100 yen store (LOVE!), and the Converse sneakers from the ever present ABC Mart (on sale, of course). Summer, here I come!

  1. Hooray for new clothes! New seasons are a great excuse to go shopping! :) I have to start getting all my winter clothes ready. I think it's going to be a cold one in Sydney!

    1. I don't really do many coordinate posts, but just for you I shall try :)
The poof balls are amazing, I never saw them in Kobe!
And GW will start off in Taiwan...followed by lots of sleeping.. followed by lounging under trees.

  4. !! You mean that there's a store in Tokyo that sells clothes that would fit me!? HAH! Awesome.

I bet I'd have to boy only skirts and dresses though. :( It's even hard for me (a 6' tall girl) to find pants in America that are long enough.

    1. By the way, I've been reading your blog for months now, and I think just now is the first time its let me reply!! :D That is so exciting! Before it would just refresh the page, and my comment would be missing.

    2. I know, it has recently started being more cooperative!
At 6 foot you are going to have trouble with full length pants here... there is a reason I mainly wear dresses and skirts ;p

    3. You know what? Even us shorties struggle to find pants that fit. I'm Japan-sized (just under 1,6 m and skinny to boot), but Japanese women have different proportions: relatively long upper bodies and relatively short legs, whereas Caucasian women are the other way around. I also get the impression that Caucasian women, regardless of weight, seem to have a bigger waist/hip ratio. I've given up. Frocks it is! :)

  5. Pom-pom sakura? Poofy-looking sakura? I love those descriptions!

I can't wait for Golden Week. I just hope all Tokyoites go overseas so that I can enjoy some solitary moments while hunting azalea and wisteria. Wishful thinking, but hope springs eternal in the female breast.

PS: Are you going to get some toenail art to accompany the new sandals? :D

    1. Hahaha, well I for one will be escaping the country for a short while... but I still think you will have competition for the wisteria.
No toenail art...considering how much I run about, its not worth the effort!
